The Mission Light has been busy recording demos of new material at Mid-Ocean. New songs are sounding great!

In other TML news, we've been getting lots of queries about Festival and unfortunately we will not be playing this year's Festival du Voyageur. This will mark the first year since 2005. We love playing the Festival and hope you all attend. It's a great time. Bon Festival!

With the return of our resident beatmaster Jamie Smythe back for good from the West Coast and Saya Gahungu back on violin, we're going to hit the stage on Nov. 4th at Dylan's on Pembina with the original lineup! The JD Edwards Band and The Mission Light are teaming up for a double-bill at the Park Theatre on Wednesday, June 30th! Opening up the evening will be good friend and amazing singer/songwriter Edouard Lamontagne (Montreal).

The Mission Light is back at Le Garage for another amazing night of music and good times on Saturday, June 5th. We are welcoming our new local drummer Dave Arbez (formerly of local Wpg ska band Ten Too Many). Dave has recently been hard at work with TML rehearsing and recording. Opening up the night is Kyle Sierens. Kyle did an amazing job of mixing and mastering our debut album "Hearts For City Limits". Kyle has been a featured artist on the Winnipeg Folk Festival's Young Performer's Stage.

So Come On Down! Enjoy a hot night of music and cold drinks! And help us welcome Dave Arbez to the mix.

The Mission Light will release their debut album Hearts For City Limits on June 29 & 30 at the Park Theatre (698 Osborne Street). The Feugh will be opening the night as well as Barkham. These shows should sell out quick. Tickets available at Music Trader.

The Mission Light will be performing a 75 minute set on the Main Stage at this year's Festival du Voyageur on Saturday, Feb 14. We will performing a brand new song as well as some material off our upcoming debut! This is our fifth year playing the festival and it's always a good time. Don't miss out!

TML will also be playing a show at Garage Cafe on Thursday, Feb. 19. Come early, this one will pack up very quickly. Show starts at 9:30pm.

The Mission Light has enlisted the expertise of acclaimed engineer Kyle Sierens to mix and master TML’s full-length debut album "Hearts For City Limits". Currently residing in Calgary (Alberta), Kyle’s genius in mixing and mastering will contribute to an already stellar sounding debut album. Having worked with an amazing list of Canadian bands, Kyle’s seasoned sonic sensibility brings a deliberate yet delicate ear to the fold.

The Mission Light has a few lineup changes to announce. Jamie has relocated to Vancouver but will continue to record and tour with the band. Chris Gaudry (The Velvet Pill, Civil Disobedients) will fill in on drums for local shows. Saya has decided to become a part-time member for the time being to focus on his studies. We'd like welcome Dale Brown (Dust Rhinos) on violin as well as previously announced Rob Nicolas on Guitar. Both local and touring lineups are amazing and we look forward to 2009 as being a great year for The Mission Light.

Currently regrouping after some line-up changes, the band will be returning to the studio in the fall to mix down 3 tracks from our upcoming debut album which will be released to the public shortly thereafter. Due to a few setbacks, the release date for "Hearts For City Limits" has been pushed back to the new year. TML would like thank everyone for their support and kind words throughout this process. Keep those messages coming!

The Mission Light will be playing the Outdoor Stage at Old Market Square (Exchange District) Saturday, July 19 at 6:30pm as part of the Winnipeg Fringe Festival. This is our first show since acquiring some new blood which includes "Downtown" Dale Brown on violin and "Hot" Rob Nicolas on guitar. The show is FREE & ALL AGES.

We have posted PREVIEW TRACKS from the upcoming debut album "Hearts For City Limits" on our MySpace page. Of course, these are preliminary versions that are unmixed and unmastered. We’ll be uploading new songs and mixes every few weeks so that you can sample some of the fruits of our labour. We’d like to thank everyone for their enormous support, love and patience. The Mission Light will be returning to the studio at the end of the month to work on tracks off their debut album entitled "Hearts For City Limits". Check out The Mission Light at the Festival du Voyageur in Saint-Boniface. This is our third year playing and it's always a blast. Scott Senior (The Duhks, Moses Mayes) will be filling in on the drums. Jamie is awaiting surgery for a hernia. The boy's just that intense. Here's to you buddy! We are playing four shows (Feb. 16, 18, 22, 24) so pull out your "ceinture flécher" and come party with us.

The Guy Abraham Band has decided to change the band name to The Mission Light. Please tell all your friends the new name to help us get the word out.

"We were getting typecast in the singer-songwriter category. Our songs are a collaborative effort and the name was just not reflecting the music"

We will be heading back into the studio in August/September. The debut album is already sounding very "epic".
